ALL OF ONE FATHER

As I think of the legacy of Dr. King and those before him who fought and gave their lives for the cause of human dignity and justice my mind goes to the root of hatred and racism. The root of hatred and racism is simply the perpetuation of bad information presented as truth. The ideas of supremacy, entitlement, and oppression are so embedded in the psyche of some as a result of culture and tradition. The idea of defining persons by color, class, and creed nullifies the truth that we are all born of one blood and all return to the very same dust when our time is done.

Years ago I wrote this song ALL OF ONE FATHER to present the idea that only through love and understanding that we all share the earth and share in the Spirit that inSpires us can we attain peace and real brotherhood.

Traditions say you and your kind can only hate me and my kind

traditions fool our hearts and our minds

and make us untruthful

They bind us they blind us we need a new way to remind us

that my kind and your kind are all of one Father

my kind and your kind are all one Father

I don't know where it all began

but i would love to see an end

to all this hatred and mistrust between our kind

We could start a new tradition

of understanding peace and love

remembering we're all of one Father..
