SPITFIRE SATURDAY FEATURE

Spitfire Poetry Group is a part of the Performing Arts Collective so as is our custom each PAC member endeavors to support all activities  as much as in thier power. PAC events include the Langston Hughes musical Black Nativity,  the Historical Dance retrospective Visons, the Variety Show, PAC KIDS summer show, The Spoken Word Festival and the Count it All Joy Series , & particiaption in the Black Heritage Festival. The aforementioned are annual events. Abeni Dance has many performances throughout the month including Riverstreet 1st Saturdays, & Spifire also has several monthly performances including participation in the ArtMarch 1st Friday events and the monthly SpitFire Saturdays.  We all endeavor to pitch in on everything we can including SpitFire Saturdays...Darowe can be often found doing sound and video and Muriel & the Dancers kick in, and G.S.SongWorks can often be found contributing musically all in the same evening with the poets. Well to close out this year's series I was honored that Marquis invited me to be the musical feature..The evening was awesome. Everything flowed very well.. I brought my favorite musical compadres Cliff on drums, Thomas on Sax, Christian on Bass & Mike on percussion!  always thrilled to be with them...the audience seemed curious to see the acoustic setup and didnt really know what to expect until we got going, In this crisply packaged clicktrack, synthesized culture i guess an acoustic group could seem a little confusing...& doing primarily original music as well....surprised they didnt run for the door before we played a note..lol...but they stayed and enjoyed.. Here are a few excerpts from the musical performance.
